Mercedes Moné Wants To Retire Mickie James

Mercedes Moné wants to retire the current IMPACT Knockouts Champion, and Mickie James has responded...

Speaking at Planet Comicon 2023 (footage via COOLTOY on YouTube), IWGP Women's Champion Mercedes Moné discussed being a fan of Mickie James.

"Mickie James is legit one of my idols and someone who I grew up and I was just like, ‘Wow.' That was such a standard to me. Her and Trish Stratus, that storyline inspired me so much that I wanted to be in the WWE even more."

She also talked about wanting to retire Mickie, with James having recently won the IMPACT Knockouts World Championship from Jordynne Grace under a career vs. title stipulation.

"When Mickie James came back to WWE, I was praying and hoping that we would actually get to wrestle. We never got to. We had maybe a tag matches on house shows, but we never had a one-on-one, which is my dream. [...] So I definitely would love to face Mickie James and retire her ass. Send her back to that rodeo and go ride that horse. Bye Mickie."

James has since responded to this on Twitter, posting "I see you. I hear you. I love you. I respect you. I’d be honored. Try me shugs."

Mercedes is still in the early stages of her post-WWE career, having recently defeated KAIRI to win the NJPW-owned championship.

Moné also appears to be on a collision course with current STARDOM High-Speed Champion AZM, having called her out following victory over KAIRI. James is set to face Jordynne Grace once again, this time at IMPACT's Sacrifice event on March 24.

H/T to Fightful.
