Mickie James Relinquishes IMPACT Knockouts World Title

Mickie James has forfeited the IMPACT Knockouts World Championship

IMPACT Rebellion will see a new Knockouts World Champion crowned, after the unfortunate news that Mickie James has been forced to relinquish the title ahead of the PPV.

James has been dealing with multiple injuries including a broken rib for much of the past month, casting doubt on her involvement in a planned title match against Jordynne Grace and Deonna Purrazzo at Rebellion. But despite hopes that James could be medically cleared in time to defend the gold, Rebellion will instead see former champions Grace and Deonna Purrazzo fight for the title, after James vacated the title on the April 13 edition of IMPACT Wrestling.

In a show-closing promo, James thanked the fans for their support during the ‘Last Rodeo’ which culminated in Mickie winning the title at Hard to Kill on January 13, before setting down her cowboy hat and championship in the ring and telling Grace and Purrazzo it’s their time now.

Aside from a broken rib, James is also believed to be dealing with a slight shoulder tear and a possible torn pectoral muscle. It’s unknown how long the multi-time world champion will be out of action.
