MJF Says CM Punk Was A 'Mentor Through Hate'

CM Punk mentored MJF 'through hate'

One of MJF's mentors was "through love" while the other, CM Punk, mentored Maxwell Jacob Friedman "through hate", MJF revealed on Casual Conversations

While discussing CM Punk, MJF said: "Yeah, I think I would use the word mentor through hate. I was mentored by probably two of the most intelligent guys in the business. One was through love, and one was through hate."

MJF and CM Punk had a widely praised feud in All Elite Wrestling from November 2021 until March 2022, with their record against one another ending at 1-1. MJF won their first match while CM Punk won their second encounter, a Dog Collar Match at Revolution, with the assistance of Wardlow turning on MJF.

Punk and MJF were set to have a third match over the AEW World Championship, which was even set up at All Out 2022, but Punk sustained a torn triceps during his title win and proceeded to go on a rant about The Elite and Colt Cabana during the post-show media scrum which led to a brawl between Punk, Ace Steel, The Young Bucks, and Kenny Omega.

Punk was out of action following All Out and he didn't return until June of 2023. Punk was then fired in September 2023 after attacking Jack Perry backstage at All In.

CM Punk has since signed with WWE and he is currently renegotiating his contract amid reports that he wants to be with the company "forever."
