Son Of Evander Holyfield Set For WWE SummerSlam Tryout

Elijah Holyfield to have a WWE tryout over SummerSlam weekend

The son of a boxing legend could be set to become a pro wrestler.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider has reported that Elijah Holyfield, the son of former Undisputed World Heavyweight Champion in boxing Evander Holyfield, is set to be a part of the WWE tryouts in Cleveland, Ohio over SummerSlam weekend. Fans will actually be able to attend the tryouts ahead of the August 3 pay-per-view at Cleveland Browns Stadium.

Elijah Holyfield is a former American football player, having played for the Georgia Bulldogs in college (the same school as Goldberg) from 2016 until 2019. Holyfield decided to forgo his senior year to pursue an NFL career but he went undrafted in 2019. He was subsequently signed and spent time on the practice squads of the Carolina Panthers, Philadelphia Eagles, and Cincinnati Bengals. The 26-year-old has been a free agent since 2022.

Evander Holyfield has history in pro wrestling, having once boxed Matt Hardy on an episode of WWE Saturday Night's Main Event. He also appeared on SmackDown in 2018.

Pro wrestling and boxing have a rich history together, whether it be Antonio Inoki vs. Muhammad Ali, Tyson Fury singing at Clash at the Castle 2022, or Mike Tyson's several appearances in WWE and All Elite Wrestling.
