MJF Significantly Cut From 'The Iron Claw'

Blink and you might miss him.

Wrestling fans looking forward to seeing MJF in the upcoming Von Erich family biopic The Iron Claw shouldn't get their hopes up.

In the most recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter it was noted that the understanding is, based on the way the film has been edited, that MJF's role as Lance Von Erich has been "pretty much dropped".

The report went on to say that the Lance character shows up for about ten seconds and they never go into the story, nor does MJF have any speaking lines in the final cut.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider has since posted an update on the situation while responding to a fan question, writing:

"I read a script for The Iron Claw in 2022. There were three scenes involving Lance at the time. He is introduced by Fritz as the new Von Erich with the idea Kevin Von Erich isn't happy with the idea of passing him off as legitimate but does what his father wants. There's a scene or so of them in the ring showing it's not working or that the team isn't in sync. There's a scene where Lance demands more money from Fritz and is fired. That's it. It was a small subplot. I don't know if the scenes were filmed and cut or if they were never filmed, but the Lance character was only in the film for a short few scenes when the film was written and that was way before MJF was cast"

The AEW World Champion is currently suffering from various injuries, but will work through them and continue to wrestle for Tony Khan's promotion.
