Jan 8, 2025
WWE NXT New Year's Evil saw a new NXT Champion and NXT Women's Champion be crowned at the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles, California.
In the final match of NXT New Year's Evil, Oba Femi defeated Trick Williams and Eddy Thorpe in a Triple Threat to win the NXT Championship. The finish saw Williams try to hit Femi with his Trick Knee but Oba dodged it and pushed Williams straight into a steel-chair-holding Eddy Thorpe. This ultimately took out Thorpe, while Williams staggered straight into a Pop-Up Powerbomb from Femi, who pinned the champion for the win.
Femi's win ended Trick Williams' second reign as NXT Champion after 93 days. Williams had been champion again since NXT's debut on The CW on October 1, 2024.
In the opening match of New Year's Evil, Giulia vanquished Roxanne Perez to become the new NXT Women's Champion, ending Perez's reign after 274 days.
Giulia picked up the win after she kicked out of a Pop Rox and escaped an Armbar before following up with a second Northern Lights Bomb for the victory.
A new show could soon be added to the NXT brand, with rumours circulating that WWE could be set to introduce NXT EVOLVE.
