New Matches Set For NJPW Windy City Riot

More matches set for NJPW Windy City Riot

What some would consider a dream match has been made official for New Japan Pro-Wrestling's upcoming Windy City Riot show from the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois on Friday, April 12.

Nic Nemeth surprisingly issued a challenge to Tomohiro Ishii on Wednesday night and the match has since been made official. The IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship will not be on the line as Nic Nemeth waits to defend the gold against Hiroshi Tanahashi. The match was meant to take place at Sakura Genesis but it was postponed after Tanahashi suffered an ankle injury at the New Beginning in Sapporo.

Jack Perry will also be in action in Chicago when he faces Shota Umino. The two talents have been locked in a programme since Perry attacked Umino at Battle in the Valley back in January, an event which saw Jack Perry rip up his AEW contract. The former Jungle Boy has since defeated Umino in the New Japan Cup with the help of House of Torture, the faction Perry ultimately joined. Umino and Perry will clash in tag team action at Sakura Genesis before Windy City Riot.

The NJPW STRONG Openweight Tag Team Titles will also be on the line when El Phantasmo and Hikuleo defend the belts in a Four-Way Open Challenge.

Updated NJPW Windy City Riot card:

  • Tetsuya Naito vs. Jon Moxley
  • Nic Nemeth vs. Tomohiro Ishii
  • Mustafa Ali vs. Hiromu Takahashi
  • Jack Perry vs. Shota Umino
  • El Phantasmo & Hikuleo (c) vs. TBD vs. TBD vs. TBD - Open Challenge for the NJPW STRONG Openweight Tag Team Championships
