Jan 18, 2025
There has been just one name announced for the 2025 women’s Royal Rumble thus far, whereas there have been eight names entering themselves into the men’s Royal Rumble match, with the latest announcing their participation on last night’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
Adding yet another big name to the field, former Royal Rumble winner and multi-time world champion Rey Mysterio has officially announced himself for the 2025 edition of the battle royal. Mysterio opened SmackDown with a promo in his hometown of San Diego to reveal his Rumble plans, only to be interrupted by Kevin Owens, who said that he wants Mysterio to choose him at WrestleMania if he wins. Mysterio called Owens delusional, leading to a brawl which later led into a match that was won by Owens.
The other participants currently announced for the 2025 men’s Royal Rumble are John Cena, CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, LA Knight and Seth Rollins. Nia Jax is currently the only wrestler announced on the women’s side. Also on the show, Cody Rhodes will defend the Undisputed WWE Title in a ladder match against Kevin Owens. It was revealed this week that over 3,000 tickets were sold after Cena entered himself into the Rumble.
