NJPW New Japan Cup 2024 Final Revealed

Hirooki Goto vs. Yota Tsuji in the NJPW New Japan Cup final

The New Japan Cup final is official following today's semi-final matches and Yota Tsuji will take on Hirooki Goto for the right to challenge Tetsuya Naito for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Sakura Genesis.

The first semi-final match saw Yota Tsuji take on EVIL, with House of Torture's repeated interference throughout the New Japan Cup having been heavily criticised on social media. The interference continued in the semi-final to the point the match was initially ruled a no-contest, only for it to be restarted with no factions at ringside. This stipulation didn't last long, however, as the referee was taken out by Tsuji's Springboard Kick which led to a House of Torture beatdown to Tsuji and some Dick to dick contact.

Hiromu Takahashi and BUSHI tried to make the save for Tsuji but they only received Dick to dick contact from Dick Togo and Jack Perry for their trouble. EVIL then looked to have the match won but Tsuji escaped Everything is EVIL and after some more interference from Togo and Ren Narita, Shingo Takagi made his way to the ring. Los Ingobernables de Japon then combined to lay out EVIL following black mist to EVIL from BUSHI and a Pumping Bomber from Shingo. This provided the opening Yota Tsuji needed and he levelled EVIL with a Spear for the victory.

Hirooki Goto advanced to the semi-finals via forfeit after David Finlay was hospitalised before their quarter-final matchup. It was then 2015 again as Goto picked up his biggest singles win for multiple years, defeating former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion SANADA in the semi-finals following a GTR and the Go To Heaven.

This means the New Japan Cup final on Wednesday, March 20 will be Hirooki Goto vs. Yota Tsuji.
