NJPW Reveals New Japan Cup 2023 Dates

Another New Japan Cup is on the way

NJPW are revealing more about their plans for 2023 and the promotion have announced the dates for the upcoming New Japan Cup tournament.

The 2023 edition of the New Japan Cup will begin on Sunday, March 5 at Korakuen Hall before continuing on Wednesday, March 8. NJPW will then tour Japan before the final on Tuesday, March 21 at Nagaoka City Hall Aore. 

The New Japan Cup has been a single-elimination tournament in New Japan Pro-Wrestling since 2005, with the winner earning a shot at the title of their choosing. The 2022 New Japan Cup was won by Zack Sabre Jr. and he went on to unsuccessfully challenge Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Hyper Battle. ZSJ also won the tournament in 2018. 

Other past winners of the New Japan Cup include Giant Bernard, Kota Ibushi, Tetsuya Naito, Will Ospreay, EVIL, Yuji Nagata, Kazuchika Okada, and Shinsuke Nakamura. 

NJPW will also hold their 51st Anniversary Show on Monday, March 6 in Ota.
