NJPW Talent To Star In Movie
Togi Makabe will be in a movie next month!
New Japan Pro-Wrestling star Togi Makabe will be back on the silver screen next month.
It has been revealed that Makabe will reprise his role as Hai Rou in the upcoming Kingdom III: Flame of Destiny movie. Makabe debuted in the franchise during Kingdom II: Far and Away last year.
Kingdom III is scheduled to be released on Friday, July 28 and the movie is directed by Shinsuke Sato. Other stars in the film include Kento Yamazaki and Ryo Yoshizawa.
The Kingdom series is a live-action adaption of the critically-acclaimed manga of the same name that has been running since 2006. Kingdom is a fictionalised account of the Warring States period of China's history and follows the war orphan Xin and his friends as he seeks to become the greatest general and unify China for the first time in 500 years.
The Warring States period lasted from 475 BC until the Qin state's victory in 221 BC to establish the first unified Chinese empire.
Outside of his NJPW commitments, Makabe has worked on movies before. He provided the voice of Rictus Erectus for the Japanese dub of Mad Max: Fury Road, among other roles.
