NWA Unlikely To Air On CW TV Following Illegal Substances Spot At Samhain

CW has drawn the line with an illegal substance spot ahead of NWA TV deal

Things were looking up for the NWA, as Billy Corgan had recently tied down a TV deal with the CW network, bringing the NWA back to television. However, an incident at their Samhain PPV last weekend has led to this deal potentially falling through.

A segment at Samhain showed Father James Mitchell (The Sinister Minister) engage in some not-so-PG activities, with him being shown to snort some illegal substances, handing out what was implied to be cocaine to some of the talent near him. This was a spot pushed by Corgan, though this controversial bit has caught the attention of those at the CW.

The network is not happy, and a report from Haus of Wrestling has indicated that there is now a 90% chance that NWA Powerrr will no longer be appearing on CW television, and will instead air exclusively on the CW app, along with an NWA reality show.

As noted in the report,Apparently, when negotiations were going on to bring the NWA to The CW, Corgan was told that the network would not be watching the PPVs and would only be concerned with what happened on the TV show airing on their platform.

That changed following the cocaine spot, as The CW, which fans knew would be the new home for the NWA, was flooded with social media comments. Haus of Wrestling was told there is now a 90% chance that the NWA reality show and Powerrr will air on The CW app and not on TV.”
