Original Plans For WWE Crown Jewel 2024 Match
Plans for a cancelled Crown Jewel match have been revealed
Nov 2, 2024
The Crown Jewel 2024 PLE is taking place today at the Mohammed Abdo Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, though the card originally looked a little different. This is due to Rhea Ripley suffering a fractured orbital bone injury, with it being revealed by WWE that she would be out of action for an undisclosed amount of time.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the original plans for Rhea Ripley at Crown Jewel saw her set to compete in a singles match against Raquel Rodriguez, who returned at the Bad Blood 2024 PLE, aligning with Liv Morgan and the Judgment Day.
Although it wasn’t confirmed, Meltzer notes that it was likely that the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship fatal four way match was added to the card to replace Ripley vs. Rodriguez. This is assumed due to it being the only match not announced prior to Ripley’s injury. Ripley was written off WWE programming on NXT, with her show in the NXT parking lot, bloodied and beaten after an attack by Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan and Rodriguez.
