Journalist Phil Mushnick has claimed he tried to warn Donald Trump against associating with Vince McMahon.
Trump and McMahon have been friends for decades, with Trump Plaza in New Jersey hosting WrestleMania IV and V.
Trump would sometimes be shown in the front row of WWE shows at Madison Square Garden and he ended up becoming involved in a storyline with McMahon, which culminated in the Battle of the Billionaires at WrestleMania 23.
Speaking on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Mushnick described his efforts to deter Trump from doing anything with McMahon.
"[Trump] had just run the Miss Universe contest and he got rid of the winner because she was on alcohol and drugs, and he played this noble man and he was going to take care of that and clean up the pageant. I called him and I said, 'Donald, I have four boxes, I'll deliver them to you, with all the Fed Ex records of the steroids and opioids delivered to McMahon, the wrestlers, Hulk Hogan from (Dr. George) Zahorian. I will give them to you. You don't want to be involved in this'. What did he say? He's the smartest man on earth. 'No, don't worry about it. I'm going to give the money to charity'. 'How much are you going to give to charity?' 'About a million dollars'. 'I hope to see the ceremony where you present that big styrofoam check for a million dollars because if you give a million dollars to charity, we'd all know it'," Mushnick said.
Trump was inducted into the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013. Today, Trump was elected President of the United States for the second time after winning the 2024 election.
A spokesperson for former WWE employee Janel Grant recently expressed her hope that McMahon doesn't receive a pardon from Trump in the event he is elected.
