Popular WWE Star Hoping To Return For Royal Rumble

The WWE Royal Rumble is a glorious event, with plenty of surprises and returns usually in store.

The road to the 2024 Royal Rumble is no different, and former WWE Champion Rey Mysterio has revealed he hopes to be back in-time for the show, saying the following to the Bakers Bantering Podcast:

“I am really working hard on my physical therapy. I just had knee surgery, thanks to Santos Escobar - and his time will come eventually. And I do hope that I can return for the Rumble, if not shortly after that. But I am working very hard to make my return as soon as possible,” said Mysterio.

Mysterio has been out of action since late 2023, with the lucha legend undergoing knee surgery in November 2023. The WCW and WWE icon has had a long history of knee problems, but will be hoping to put those woes behind him upon his eventual return to in-ring competition.

Should Mysterio return in time for the titular men’s Royal Rumble match itself he’ll surely be hoping to repeat his performance from the 2006 Rumble match, with Mysterio last eliminating Randy Orton to book a shot against then World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 22.
