Potential Spoiler On Major Plans For WWE Royal Rumble 2022

A new challenger appears...

If recent WWE Live Events are anything to go by, Roman Reigns will have a new challenger for the Universal Championship at this year's Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

Reigns is currently embroiled in his feud with Brock Lesnar, with the two set to collide again at WWE Day 1 on January 1 2022. But, according to a new report from WrestlingNews.co, the Tribal Chief's next challenger after Lesnar may already been known.

Drew McIntyre has regularly been teaming with The New Day on Live Events in the past few weeks in six-man tag-team action against Reigns and The Usos. McIntyre, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston are being advertised to face The Bloodline on house shows in January as well, and live events are traditionally an indicator of what is to come on WWE TV.

With that in mind, it appears McIntyre is being set up as Reigns' next challenger for the Universal Title with a feud that will likely head into this year's Royal Rumble and potentially beyond.

WWE have told a story in recent weeks about McIntyre not being involved in a recent Battle Royal to determine a number one contender to Reigns.
