Raquel Gonzalez Wins WWE NXT Women's Championship

A dominant showing to take the title from Io Shirai!

There is a new NXT Women's Champion!

Raquel Gonzalez claimed the championship from Io Shirai in the main event of Night One of NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver in a physical and well-paced match.

An outing filled with big spots, including Shirai diving off the 20-foot high skull on the stage onto Gonzalez, it was the challenger who took the win thanks to a huge one-armed powerbomb outside the ring, before hitting the same move inside the squared circle.

Gonzalez, who had also kicked out of Shirai's Moonsault, would get the three-count to end Shirai's lengthy and historic reign and take the NXT Women's Championship to close Night One.

Shirai had won the title on June 7, 2020, beating Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley in a Triple Threat match, with her reign ended by a superstar who has enjoyed one of the best debut years in NXT history.

Gonzalez was the second new champion to be crowned from Night One of NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver, after MSK won the NXT Tag Team Championships earlier in the night.
