While WWE's merger with UFC that was officially completed in September looked to have cemented Vince McMahon's spot at the top of WWE, the 78-year-old finds himself without creative power in the company following a decision taken by Endeavor and TKO Group CEO Ari Emanuel. This leaves WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque as the head of creative.

The initial belief following the announcement of the merger back in April, with Ari Emanuel even saying as much to Vince McMahon, was the TKO Group Executive Chairman would be in charge of WWE and Ari Emanuel would defer to McMahon if they had a disagreement.

Instead, though, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has reported that Emanuel "overruled" Vince McMahon, who now finds his power within WWE "marginalised."

"He's out of creative. This is a big story because Ari Emanuel when they were on the verge of closing the deal and actually closed the deal in April, did the media rounds and was like 'Vince will be in charge of the company and if me and Vince have a disagreement it will go the way Vince wants because Vince is the guy,'" Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio before adding: "Vince was in fact overruled even though when he merged the company he was told this would not happen. It did happen and it's a really interesting thing. That statement when Ari Emanuel was talking about the reasons the stock is down, he mentioned Vince's name. It is very interesting I think what is going to happen but Vince's power is clearly marginalised."

Bryan Alvarez also reported why Ari Emanuel removed Vince from creative, saying: "I heard it was something to the effect of when someone is hired they should do their job and, of course, since Hunter's job is that he is in charge of creative like he should do his job and not have somebody else overrule his job."

This is similar to what has been reported by Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, who wrote: "Emanuel has long been a firm believer that, in order for an organization to be as effective as possible, people need to do the job they are assigned. In this case, that approach has empowered Levesque to exert his full influence in the company's creative sphere."
