At least for the time being, CM Punk reportedly won't be back in WWE following claims the two-time AEW World Champion was interested in going back to the company which fired him on his wedding day in 2014, only for Vince McMahon, Nick Khan, and Paul "Triple H" Levesque to turn Punk down.

Punk has been a free agent since he was fired with cause by All Elite Wrestling in September. This came after over one year of backstage issues, with the internal drama finally coming to a head at All In when Punk had a backstage altercation and multiple incidents with Tony Khan. The AEW President when announcing Punk's firing stated that he feared for his life at the Wembley Stadium Show in August.

Although WWE aren't interested in signing Punk at the moment, Haus of Wrestling has reported that a source close to the situation felt the door was open for Punk to make a WWE comeback at some point down the road and Punk could be brought in if Endeavor feel he is needed.

The main reason for WWE not bringing in Punk, though, is simply because the WWE product is hot and the feeling is the company doesn't need another big star at the moment.

"The fact the WWE product is hot and not in need of an additional big star is something that has come up regularly in my conversations with people about the situation," Haus of Wrestling wrote, for the avoidance of doubt.

With AEW and WWE off the table, CM Punk does still have options with IMPACT Wrestling believed to be interested in signing the 44-year-old. If Punk would be willing to sign with IMPACT is another question entirely, however.
