Rey Fenix could be sitting on the shelf in All Elite Wrestling until late 2025 due to the extent of injury time added to his contract.

Fenix has not been booked by AEW since July, with it emerging in September that AEW were adding injury time to the former International Champion's deal. Reports have noted that All Elite Wrestling added time to the contract after the promotion found out that Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo - his real-life brother and Lucha Bros tag team partner - had been in talks with WWE despite being under contract to AEW. Fenix has since insinuated this was not the case and injury time being added to his contract was instead part of a "huge injustice."

Regardless of the reason, a friend of Rey Fenix's told Dave Meltzer that a year of injury time was added to his deal.

"Rey Fenix, he's got a long time left. I'm not exactly sure how long but one of his friends told me like a year as far as injury time they've tacked on. And obviously he wants to go to WWE and he can't go," Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio.

While Rey Fenix is signed with AEW until well into 2024, Penta El Zero Miedo is a free agent after his deal expired and there is reportedly "heavy demand" in booking Penta.
