The real story behind Rey Fenix's current status with All Elite Wrestling is a "huge injustice", according to a new report.

The Lucha Bros have not appeared on AEW programming since July, with Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo disappearing from TV amidst reports they were planning to leave AEW and join WWE, to the point the tag team reportedly claimed to friends they had been in talks with WWE while they were still under contract to AEW. Penta has since departed AEW but Rey Fenix has had injury time added to his contract and he will be signed with AEW until well into 2025.

The reason for AEW adding time to Fenix's deal was reportedly that the promotion had seen evidence of either Penta or Fenix talking about their intentions to leave AEW for WWE, while Tony Khan also allegedly found out what WWE had planned for the Lucha Bros.

Despite multiple reports, a new claim from Dr Chris Featherstone of Sportskeeda has stated the real reason for Fenix having injury time added to his contract will be revealed and it is a "huge injustice."

Featherstone tweeted:

"I received information from an AEW source on November 20 regarding the Lucha Brothers' status, but did not report it as I was waiting for one of them to begin speaking their mind about the situation (I was told that was coming).

"I was also told that day that Penta's contract was soon ending with AEW. Rey Fenix did just that (spoke his mind), so here is some Intel I received:

" - The alleged excuse that Tony Khan found out about Lucha Brothers [being] in talks with WWE is 'fake news,' and the real reason [will be] revealed.

"- There is a 'real story' behind the situation with Rey Fenix, which is a 'huge injustice.'

"- Expect the Lucha Brothers to go more in-depth about their time in AEW when they are free and clear to do so, and 'when they do, [it] is going to be ugly.'"

Rey Fenix has since replied to the report, writing: "Unfortunately, due to contractual issues I cannot speak now, but I will have my time."

Fenix then added: "So far the most accurate comment."

Rey Fenix later alluded to alleged mistreatment he received in All Elite Wrestling, tweeting: "I needed a doctor and you ignored me for months."

Fenix's comments come only a couple of days after he claimed to be receiving "inhumane treatment."
