Report: Andrade El Idolo & Sammy Guevara Involved In Backstage Fight At AEW Dynamite

Sammy Guevara and Andrade El Idolo come to blows backstage at AEW Dynamite

UPDATE: Find out the latest on the backstage altercation between Andrade El Idolo and Sammy Guevara here.

Original story:

The issues between Andrade El Idolo and Sammy Guevara boiled over before the AEW Dynamite taping from Washington, DC on Wednesday night.

According to reports from TMZ and Fightful Select, Andrade and Guevara were involved in a backstage fight at the taping. There was initially a verbal altercation between both men before things got physical. Guevara allegedly pushed Andrade and El Idolo threw a punch, although the order of events is unclear. There is also no word on if Andrade's punch connected.

AEW sources told TMZ and Fightful Select that the altercation was not a work.

Following the incident, Andrade El Idolo was sent home. It was also announced ahead of Dynamite by Tony Khan that Andrade's Mask vs. Career Match with Dark Order's 10 at Rampage was off. Instead, 10 and Dark Order will face Death Triangle for the AEW World Trios Titles. Sammy Guevara remained at the arena and he was in action in the main event, teaming with Chris Jericho to defeat Bryan Danielson and Daniel Garcia.

Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer noted that many in AEW have disputed TMZ's account of events, though, tweeting: "There are definitely two totally different stories about what happened tonight, though many in AEW have disputed the TMZ version and noted that if it was true, it's very hard to believe Sammy would have worked the main event while Andrade was sent home."

Issues between Andrade El Idolo and Sammy Guevara heated up earlier this week after the former WWE star revealed in an interview that Guevara had complained that he hit him too hard during one of their matches. This prompted a response from Guevara and a back and forth on Twitter followed which ended after Andrade said he would see Sammy on Wednesday. An altercation appeared to be the likely result after El Idolo hinted he might not be at Rampage for his scheduled match with 10.

Andrade has tweeted "respect me and I'll respect you" since the backstage fight with Guevara. TMZ also noted that "several wrestlers are p*ssed at Sammy for publicly airing personal/private issues, and things just boiled over at the arena."
