Report: Belief The Rock Is Pushing To Defeat Roman Reigns At WWE WrestleMania

The Rock reportedly wants to win at WrestleMania 40 against Roman Reigns

Following the events of this week’s Friday Night SmackDown, it looks like full steam ahead to a WrestleMania 40 main event between The Rock & Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Fans are far from happy about this decision, as shown in a revolt both online and even at a live event, and reports suggest that those backstage in WWE are not happy with the way things have gone down too.

In addition to WWE wanting to make big business with The Rock returning for a match, not to mention distracting from all of the bad press that the Vince McMahon lawsuit has brought upon the company, it seems as though the push for this match was via The Rock himself. With The Rock now being a leading name in the TKO board, his influence in WWE is growing and he was one of those higher ups who believed that going for the bigger attraction at WrestleMania was the correct way to go. Not only has The Rock pushed for this match, there is belief that he is also pushing to win.

According to a report from Fightful Select, who reached out to several WWE sources, more than one of those spoken to revealed that “The Rock had not only pushed to work the match, some thought he was even pushing to win the match”. Of course, this would mean ending Roman Reigns’ historic near four-year reign as world champion, meaning that he would not end up surpassing the next milestone of Hulk Hogan’s 1400+ day reign with the gold.
