John Cena is currently in the midst of his retirement tour, with him set to finally hang up the boots at the end of 2025. Thus far, Cena has shared the ring with the likes of Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, R-Truth and CM Punk, with several “last time evers”. When it comes to his final match in WWE, his last opponent may have already been decided.
According to insider WRKD Wrestling on X, John Cena’s final opponent is currently planned to be none other than reigning World Heavyweight Champion Gunther. If this is indeed the case, then Cena will not be the first legend he’s had the privilege of facing in their final match, as he defeated Hall Of Famer Goldberg at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12 to close out his career for good.
Cena revealed recently that his final match would be taking place in mid-December, following on from his father noting that the match would take place in Boston’s TD Garden. It isn’t yet known what event this will be. Gunther and Cena have never wrestled in a singles match, so this would mark a “first time ever” during his “last time ever” for Cena in his career.
