Report: Current Plans For WWE WrestleMania 40 Main Event Revealed

A rematch is "on the table" to main event WWE WrestleMania 40

WrestleMania 40 is still some way off but WWE are already putting together preliminary plans for the Showcase of the Immortals, including ideas for what could headline the two-night show in April 2024.

According to WrestleVotes via GiveMeSport, one match that is "on the table" to main event WrestleMania 40 is Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes.

"I can say this. The rematch that's at the forefront of everybody's minds, Cody vs Roman, is very much on the table to main event in Philadelphia next year," WrestleVotes said.

Reigns and Rhodes went one-on-one in the main event of WrestleMania 39 and the expectation was Cody would win the match to finish his story and become the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. That ultimately isn't what happened, though, as Solo Sikoa interfered in the match in the final moments before Reigns connected with a spear to stand tall for the third WrestleMania in a row.

Rhodes has since transitioned to a programme with Brock Lesnar after unsuccessfully requesting a WrestleMania 39 rematch on the Raw after the event. Roman Reigns, meanwhile, has not been on WWE TV since the Raw after WrestleMania 40.
