Report: EVOLVE Going On Indefinite Hiatus

The coronavirus pandemic has taken it's toll...

The coronavirus pandemic has massively disrupted EVOLVE's 2020 schedule. The company hasn't held an event since EVOLVE 146 on March 1 and had to cancel numerous shows planned for WrestleMania 36 weekend.

Sean Radican at PWTorch reported yesterday EVOLVE will now be going on hiatus indefinitely. They obtained a post from the promotion's private message board on Facebook by WWN Live Vice President of Talent Relations, Creative, and Marketing Gabe Sapolsky in which he stated he was going to delete the private group because there are no plans for EVOLVE to run any events in the near future. Sapolsky did add, however, that this was "just a fork in the road" and asked talent to stay in touch.

The announcement comes amidst reports that EVOLVE is in serious financial trouble and has been in negotiations with WWE about selling the promotion and their tape library to the wrestling behemoth. EVOLVE has had a working relationship with WWE for a number of years and NXT talent often wrestle on their shows. PWTorch noted they reached out to EVOLVE about the rumours and were told they aren't true.
