Report: Hiroshi Tanahashi Suffering From Injuries

NJPW ace Hiroshi Tanahashi reportedly injured

New Japan Pro-Wrestling ace Hiroshi Tanahashi is reportedly dealing with injuries, with the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion believed to have issues with his knees.

Tanahashi recently teamed with Kazuchika Okada and Tomohiro Ishii to take on Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Shota Umino at NJPW Dominion, and a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggests that Tanahashi is ‘hurting badly’ and is wrestling completely different to how he was a year ago.

Meltzer’s report further states that doctors are concerned with ‘The Ace’ competing in NJPW’s upcoming G1 Climax Tournament due to Tanahashi reportedly having a hard time moving due to his historically bad knees.

Whilst Meltzer noted that Tanahashi didn’t look out of place during his latest match, it was noticeable that Okada and Ishii were picking up the slack. It also remains to be seen if such knee issues will prevent Tanahashi from wrestling at the upcoming AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door II event on June 25.

Knee issues are commonplace amongst veteran grapplers, with the likes of Hulk Hogan, Kenta Kobashi, and Keiji Muto amongst others having suffered from bad knees towards the end of their careers.
