Report: IMPACT Wrestling Interested In Signing CM Punk

Could CM Punk end up in IMPACT Wrestling?

While WWE's interest in CM Punk remains to be determined due to the upcoming merger with UFC, one pro wrestling promotion that do want to sign CM Punk is IMPACT Wrestling.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, IMPACT Wrestling are "super excited" about the prospect of working with CM Punk. There is no word on if the two sides have held talks or even if Punk wants to come back to professional wrestling. It is also unknown if IMPACT would be a viable long-term option for Punk.

Punk has a history with IMPACT, having performed for the then-TNA Wrestling in 2003 and 2004 as part of Raven's 'The Gathering' stable. Punk was backstage at IMPACT's Spring Slugfest tapings in Chicago earlier this year and in addition to mingling with talent, he played a round of UNO. Punk was said to be pleasant, in a good mood, and happy to be there at the taping.

Punk had been a part of All Elite Wrestling but he was fired by Tony Khan on September 2 following an investigation into the All In altercation Punk had with Jack Perry. Tony Khan noted that Punk made him fear for his life while backstage at All In and it was recommended by the AEW disciplinary committee and outside legal counsel that Punk be fired.

CM Punk is not expected to end up in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, with PWInsider reporting the promotion would likely not be interested in Punk due to their relationship with AEW.
