Report: Further Update On Potential WWE Interest In CM Punk

More on a potential WWE return for CM Punk

Until CM Punk definitively says he’s retired from pro-wrestling then his name is going to be linked with any and every promotion on the market willing to take a punt on the divisive multi-time world champion.

With his firing from All Elite Wrestling, chatter inevitably focused on whether Punk would or could actually make a return to WWE, with the two sides having a bitter fallout after Punk left in early 2014. A new report from PWInsider Elite states that talk of Punk potentially returning to the sports entertainment behemoth started almost immediately after his firing from AEW, with Punk again proving a divisive force.

From the corporate side, WWE execs are seemingly focused wholly on the upcoming finalisation of the merger with UFC under Endeavor’s new ownership, but some have noted that a Punk return would be an Endeavor call, and with Punk enjoying a positive relationship with UFC from his time there, it could work in his favour.

As we have seen time and time again in WWE, the door is never seemingly fully closed, with the likes of Bret Hart and The Ultimate Warrior having returned to the company after similar high-profile fallings out with the promotion. Punk is believed to still have 'major heat' with elements of the WWE locker room, although he was seemingly open to a return in 2022.
