Report: Kazuchika Okada Likely WWE-Bound, Potentially Starting In NXT

WWE may have won the race for Kazuchika Okada

Could Kazuchika Okada be heading to WWE NXT?

New Japan Pro-Wrestling's top star has announced he will be leaving the promotion and Okada will finish up with New Japan on February 24 at the New Beginning in Sapporo. All Elite Wrestling and WWE are battling for The Rainmaker's signature and Triple H may well have won the race to sign Okada.

According to Monthly Puroresu, one source close to New Japan's top talent has indicated that it appears Okada is WWE-bound and he may begin in NXT before heading to the main roster.

"Although we're unable to verify with The Rainmaker himself, one source close to NJPW's top talent has indicated to Monthly Puroresu that it appears Okada is WWE bound, potentially starting in NXT first," Monthly Puroresu wrote.

This would be a similar path to Shinsuke Nakamura, who departed New Japan as one of their top stars in 2016 and headed to NXT before moving up to the main roster.

Another NJPW talent WWE are interested in, according to reports, is Tama Tonga. He will leave the promotion at the end of January.
