Report: Killer Kross Decided To Change His WWE NXT Name To Karrion Kross

Greek mythology provided the inspiration...

On last week's episode of NXT, Killer Kross made his official debut in NXT as he attacked Tommaso Ciampa from behind. This positions Kross near the top of the card on the black and gold brand as reports have suggested The Herald Of Doomsday will be fast-tracked to the main roster.

While not announced on the show, merchandise for the Superstar revealed his name had been changed. While no official reason was given, it was obvious to many that WWE would not allow someone with the name "Killer" to compete on TV.

Fightful Select reported that changing his name to "Karrion" was actually Kross's idea. The name's close connection to "carrion" was one of the reasons for the change, due to its connotations with the apocalypse.

Greek mythology also inspired Kross in the name change as Kharon was the ferryman of Hades who transported the souls of the recently deceased across the rivers Styx and Acheron.

The former Lucha Undeground star also has a tattoo of "Kheiron" which provided the final piece of inspiration.
