Major changes are coming to WWE pay-per-views in 2023.

Along with the likes of WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, Survivor Series, and SummerSlam, WWE have held a number of gimmick-based pay-per-views in recent years, with the likes of Hell in a Cell and Extreme Rules being regularly featured on the pay-per-view schedule.

That looks set to change, though, with Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer reporting that "big changes" are coming to the pay-per-view schedule next year. Those alterations will see WWE run fewer "gimmick shows" and they will likely be replaced with more international events.

WWE have held two international pay-per-views already this year with Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia and Clash at the Castle in the United Kingdom. The company will also return to Saudi Arabia on November 5 for Crown Jewel.

WWE have also reportedly scrapped one of their 2023 pay-per-views. The company were set to hold the second edition of Day 1 on January 1 in Atlanta, Georgia but the show has been cancelled, seemingly because WWE do not wish to go head-to-head with the NFL.
