Malakai Black’s long assumed WWE return could be coming soon, with it believed the former NXT Champion could be returning ‘imminently’.

Black officially exited All Elite Wrestling in February 2025 after the expiration of his contract, bringing an end to a run which was deemed largely disappointing. Many assumed that Black wanted out of the company to return to WWE, and Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that Black should be back in the company ‘imminently’.

Whilst Black’s departure was seemingly a cause of some relief within AEW, it’s believed that WWE have big plans for the former House of Black leader, with Black earmarked as a potential major singles star in the company. Black previously wrestled for WWE from 2016 until 2021 under the name Aleister Black, with his greatest successes coming in NXT.

Black was one of several names who departed AEW in February, with Miro and Ricky Starks also making their exits from the company. Starks has since landed in NXT as Ricky Saints, whilst it’s believed Miro could also return to WWE and wrestle under the Rusev gimmick once more.
