Report: Mark Briscoe Still Banned From AEW TV By Warner Bros. Discovery
Mark Briscoe is banned from AEW TV
Jan 24, 2023
Following his brother Jay Briscoe's passing, Mark Briscoe reportedly remains banned from appearing on All Elite Wrestling's programming by Warner Bros. Discovery, the promotion's TV partner.
After being asked if Mark could appear on AEW TV, Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio: "I already know the answer, the answer is no. I can't tell you more. It could change but that's the answer. Hopefully it'll change...It's a very bad answer."
The Briscoes were banned from appearing on AEW TV by Warner Bros. Discovery due to Jay's past homophobic tweets from 2013. Jay apologised for his comments on multiple occasions and again in 2022. Many credited Jay with educating himself on LGBTQ+ issues following his comments and several paid tribute to him after his passing on January 17 in a car accident.
Warner Bros. Discovery also reportedly banned AEW from holding a tribute show to Jay on last week's episode of Dynamite. Ring of Honor taped a tribute show to the former ROH World Champion following tapings of Dynamite and Rampage instead.
Warner Bros. Discovery's decision not to allow a tribute show on Dynamite drew heavy criticism, with many pointing to the organisation's perceived double standards through the airing of Dana White's Power Slap League only weeks after White slapped his own wife at a New Year's Eve party and their continued association with JK Rowling and Ezra Miller.
