While the exact reason for Mason Rook's current absence from WWE NXT is currently unknown, the former UK indy star's may be out of action for "a very long time."
That is according to Bryan Alvarez, who noted on Wrestling Observer Live:
"Whatever's going on with Mason Rook I have been told could be pretty serious, but I don't know what it is. I've just been told he could be out a long time. Could be a very long time. So, no one seems to really be talking about what the issue is, but whatever it is, it's a real issue and he could be out like a long time. So all the best to him as well. That's all I know about that."
Mason Rook was scheduled to challenge Grayson Waller for the NXT Championship on the September 29 edition of NXT but it was announced just hours before the show that Rook was not medically cleared to compete. NXT General Manager Robert Stone then announced on NXT that Rook would be on the shelf "for the foreseeable future."
Rook himself commented on the situation, tweeting: "I'm sorry. Sometimes life is cruel. Every fibre of my being wanted to compete tonight but unfortunately it is out of my control. I promise this is just a speed bump and not a road block."
Mason Rook - who previously performed as Will Kross - signed with WWE at some point after taking part in a tryout ahead of SummerSlam 2025. Rook made his debut on the April 28, 2026, edition of NXT and he had been a featured performer in and around the NXT Title picture prior to being written off.
