Report: NBCUniversal Interested In WWE SmackDown

There is a reported chance that SmackDown moves from FOX to NBCUniversal

The season of securing new TV deals is approaching, and the future of WWE programming could well be changing, at least according to speculation from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. When talking about prospective television deals for WWE’s brands going forwards, he suggested that SmackDown could be finding a new home.

“I know that there was talk of NBC getting SmackDown. There’s been no official negotiations but I have absolutely heard the idea of NBC being interested as far as the idea of getting everything and putting SmackDown on the network. That does make sense.”

Meltzer would go on to follow this up by reiterating that nothing is for certain just yet.

“Will they do it? I don’t know. They have their own Friday night stuff that’s been around for years and years, we’ll see. That wouldn’t surprise me if NBC takes everything and puts SmackDown on.”

Raw and NXT currently both exist on the USA Network whereas SmackDown is currently airing on FOX, with the blue brand debuting there back in 2019 and taking the lion’s share of ratings when it comes to WWE programming.
