Report: Nigel McGuinness Expected To Return To WWE TV Soon

He was furloughed back in April...

In recent months, the NXT commentary team has received multiple shake-ups. Colour commentator Nigel McGuinness was furloughed back on April 15 which eventually led to Vic Joseph returning to the commentary table. Byron Saxton and Tom Phillips also both enjoyed brief spells back on the black and gold brand.

Further changes were made earlier this week after Mauro Ranallo announced he had parted ways with WWE after a four-year run. He may well be replaced by former Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett who is currently in negotiations with the company over a full-time return.

Another change could be on the way as Mike Johnson reported on PWInsider Elite that McGuinness is expected to return to WWE TV soon. Johnson did not know if the former ROH World Champion would be returning to NXT or NXT UK, however.

McGuinness previously provided commentary for WWE's fourth brand alongside Andy Shepherd before NXT UK was forced to go on hiatus because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The UK brand is set to return on September 17 and they recently resumed TV tapings at BT Sport Studios in London, England.
