Report: Original Plans For Sami Zayn Vs. Roman Reigns At WWE Elimination Chamber Revealed

Will Sami Zayn be winning the big one at WWE Elimination Chamber?

One of the biggest main events in recent WWE history will take place at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view on Saturday, February 18 when Sami Zayn challenges Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

The programme of Sami Zyan and The Bloodline has been tipped as WWE's best storyline of the past decade but WWE's original plans won't see the former Underdog from the Underground win the big one. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the original plan was for Zayn to lose at Elimination Chamber following a Jey Uso turn to set up The Usos vs. Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 39.

This has been the plan for many months but Meltzer noted "a lot has changed since that time" with Zayn having developed into a "major TV ratings mover" for WWE. If the company has decided to divert from the original plan is currently unknown. Reports in recent weeks have noted that Chief Content Officer Triple H doesn't view Sami Zayn as a WrestleMania headliner although some behind the scenes have lobbied for Zayn to be in the main event of the Show of Shows.

Roman Reigns has told The Usos to watch Elimination Chamber from home but this could just be a ruse as Jimmy and Jey are able to enter Canada, so they could conceivably show up in Montreal and help Reigns retain.
