There was support within All Elite Wrestling for The Outrunners to win the AEW World Tag Team Championships, according to a new report.

Speaking on a Fightful Select Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp revealed people within AEW pushed for The Outrunners to become tag team champions in recent months. The push didn't lead to concrete plans, though.

"I don’t know about soon but there were certainly people that wanted them to win the tag titles as like a surprise win in recent months, but the Private Party story really caught fire and ended up going really well," Sean Ross Sapp said.

The Outrunners have established themselves as one of AEW's most popular acts since the Summer of 2024, and they have been a top merchandise seller for the company.

Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd have been on the receiving end of a push since early September and they qualified for the AEW World Tag Team Title four-way at Full Gear on the November 9 edition of Collision, defeating Top Flight.

The AEW World Tag Team Titles recently changed hands as Private Party defeated The Young Bucks. Matthew and Nicholas Jackson will be off TV until 2025.
