Report: Plans For Ric Flair's AEW Return Scrapped
AEW plans for a Ric Flair return scrapped
Jan 3, 2025
It’s been several months since Ric Flair last appeared on an All Elite Wrestling broadcast, but plans for ‘The Nature Boy’ to return soon have been scrapped.
AEW are set to roll into Charlotte, North Carolina on January 4 for a Collision taping, with Flair originally slated to appear on the show in the heart of ‘Flair country’. However, a report from PWInsider Elite states that plans for Flair to appear in a cameo have fallen through, with fellow NWA legends The Rock & Roll Express Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson instead scheduled for the show.
Flair joined AEW in late 2023 as part of the build to career rival Sting’s final match at Revolution on March 3. As part of the deal to bring Flair to AEW, the Flair endorsed Wooooo Energy drink became an official sponsor of AEW, with it suggested the drinks company were effectively paying for Flair’s involvement with AEW TV.
The legendary 17-time World Champion’s brief time in AEW wasn’t without controversy, with a promo made by Flair cut from broadcast due to feelings it was inappropriate.
