Roman Reigns ignited the rumour mill recently after cutting a promo at a WWE house show in Trenton, New Jersey, with ‘The Tribal Chief’ indicating that he was unaware when he’d return to Trenton due to ‘starting a new phase’ in his life.

Many saw this as Reigns announcing that a full-time switch to Hollywood could be on the cards, but a report from Fightful Select has shot this down, with some in WWE saying they don’t expect Reigns to leave “any time soon”.

The report goes on to state that WWE have expected for a long time that Reigns will eventually start picking up more film roles, and will need to take time off to shoot them, especially after his appearance in Fast & Furious Hobbs & Shaw in 2019.

What’s more, it’s said that WWE are likely to accommodate and incentivise Reigns in order to keep WWE as his priority, especially as the company have built the entire promotion around him, with WWE not seeing an end in sight anytime soon for Reigns in the company.

Others in WWE speculate that Reigns’ Trenton promo was in reference to the fact that Roman could be looking to cut down his house show commitments, with Fightful pointing out that although Reigns has only wrestled four times on TV in 2022 thus far (all PPV matches), he has already wrestled 25 house show matches, and nine dark matches, putting him on par to have over 100 matches this year.

Reigns has not publicly commented on the promo as of yet, so until then we will just have to wait and see what's in store for 'The Tribal Chief'.
