Report: Roman Reigns' Plans For WWE WrestleMania 36 Revealed

The Big Dog could be in line for a title shot...

WWE's original plan for the Men's Royal Rumble match would have seen Roman Reigns emerge victorious and punch his ticket to the main event of WrestleMania 36. However, while he made it to the final two, The Big Dog took a hellacious Claymore Kick to the face from Drew McIntyre and was tossed over the top rope. The company reportedly changed its mind and chose The Scottish Psychopath as the victor on January 14.

The four-time world champion is still in line for a title shot at WrestleMania, however, as Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Online that WWE plans to have Reigns face "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt for the Universal Championship at The Showcase Of The Immortals. He also noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that both Superstars have been deliberately kept apart on Friday Night SmackDown to save the match for Mania.

How Reigns earns the title shot is not yet known, but many have speculated he may win a SmackDown Elimination Chamber match at the March pay-per-view.

For the avoidance of doubt, Meltzer wrote: "Becky Lynch vs. Shayna Baszler is on the books for WrestleMania but Charlotte Flair vs. Bayley is not happening at the present time. As noted last night, Brock Lesnar vs. Drew McIntyre, Bray Wyatt vs. Roman Reigns and Randy Orton vs. Edge are also on the books."
