WWE have looked to expand into legalised betting in the United States since the beginning of 2023, with the company working with Ernst & Young in an attempt to convince state regulators that there is no chance of match results leaking to the public before shows.

In order to try and stop leaks, match results would need to be decided upon months ahead of time, and talent would be kept in the dark about winners and losers until hours before matches take place.

Stage regulators haven't been enthusiastic about legalising betting on WWE matches, however, and New Hampshire were the latest state to voice their concerns in early May.

In an update on the backstage reaction to WWE's plans, Fightful Select has reported that concerns amongst WWE talent died down "pretty quickly" after the news first broke as they don't believe legalised betting on WWE in the United States is a realistic possibility and they don't expect anything to come from WWE"s intentions.

Much of the concern around WWE's plans to lock away results revolved around how it would affect talent's abilities to pitch ideas for their storylines.

A longtime talent told Fightful: "Usually, we don't know the results of matches until about then anyway. There have been world title matches where people didn't know until shortly before the match, so that won't necessarily be that different. The concern comes in to where and what we can pitch, how that affects things, and the ability to get things changed that talent doesn't agree with. There will be a lot of figuring out where and why changes are pushed for and from, and I think that this is probably more trouble than it's worth."
