The Rock’s appearance at the Bad Blood 2024 premium live event received a lot of negative attention after it seemed as though there was no follow up to him coming out to confront Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns. There was even more negativity following The Rock’s appearance on RAW’s Netflix premiere where he seemingly made amends with both Rhodes & Reigns, dropping his Final Boss persona.
Since his latest return to WWE, with The Rock seeking to convince Cody Rhodes to join his side as “his champion”, followed by John Cena’s wild heel turn at Elimination Chamber, it has been claimed by The Rock that this was all the “long game”.
In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has noted that this is not entirely accurate, claiming that The Rock’s comments about the long game were very much a “Hulk Hogan version of the story” from within WWE, indicating that these claims are fabricated and not fully true. It was noted that everything was kept under wraps regarding the heel turn, which was originally planned for WrestleMania rather than Elimination Chamber, but it is believed that not everything is as it was told by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. It also was revealed over the last week that The Rock had pushed internally for a Cody Rhodes heel turn.
