One of the more controversial moments of 2024 for AEW came when Tony Khan made the decision to air the footage of the altercation between CM Punk and Jack Perry at All In: London 2023. The footage showcased Punk confronting Perry and shoving him, before lurching into some monitors where it was believed that Khan sat. The showing of this footage played into the story of Jack Perry returning to AEW as ‘The Scapegoat’, and it did see a jump in viewership for AEW Dynamite for one week that did not hold up through the rest of the year.

AEW made headlines in the latter part of the year when a new TV deal was announced which will see Dynamite and Collision simulcast on TNT & TBS and on the Max streaming service, abd according to Dave Meltzer, Tony Khan believes that his showing of the All In brawl footage played a part in that.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer revealed that he had spoken to Khan about the incident.

“I have discussed this with him. You have no idea how much and we it’s always the same thing that he believes that that was a key to getting that deal. So I will tell you, I mean, in every discussion, there is not even a thought in his mind that he made a mistake there.”

AEW will be moving to Max in the new year.
