Report: Tony Khan Chanted In Support Of CM Punk Following The AEW Star's Return

Is Tony Khan too close to CM Punk?

In news that will shock few that have followed All Elite Wrestling over the past two years, Tony Khan is a big fan of CM Punk.

Punk found himself at the centre of controversy once again after he took shots at Hangman Page following the August 12 edition of AEW Collision. It has since been claimed that Punk has blocked Christopher Daniels and Ryan Nemeth from AEW Collision tapings and many in the locker room believe Punk was involved in banishing Hangman Page, Matt Hardy, and Isiah Kassidy from recent Collision shows.

Reports have indicated that Punk wants to keep Collision as a low-drama environment and this has resulted in him being opposed to wrestlers who are closely associated with The Elite or seen as disloyal from being backstage at Collision.

PWTorch has noted that wrestlers in AEW find themselves in an awkward position when it comes to Punk as the AEW CEO has made it clear that Punk is a big part of AEW's business strategy and Khan is personally a big fan of the 45-year-old. It has even been alleged that after Punk cut his return promo on the June 17 episode of Collision, Khan stood up backstage at the gorilla position and started pumping his fist while enthusiastically chanting "CM Punk!" as the two-time AEW World Champion walked by.

Such is Khan's infatuation with CM Punk that wrestlers with big contracts who aren't in positions of power feel it is best for them to lay low when it comes to Punk as they don't want to end up on "what is essentially his enemies list."

Khan was asked about the latest CM Punk drama this week, simply issuing a "no comment".
