During the Men's Royal Rumble, Christian returned to the squared circle and lasted 18 minutes in the match before being dumped over the top rope by Seth Rollins.

Following the pay-per-view, Christian told WWE Network, "All I ever promised was one more match. That could be it."

This won't be the case, though, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider. Captain Charisma is scheduled to make more appearances on WWE TV and he will be working a part-time schedule going forward. When his next match will be is currently unknown.

Christian was secretly medically cleared for in-ring action one week before the Rumble after a visit to Pittsburgh. Only a very small group of people knew the two-time World Heavyweight Champion was returning on January 31, but more of the locker room found out after he started warming up for the Rumble.

Outside of a one-minute bout against Randy Orton in June 2020, the Men's Rumble was Christian's first match since March 2014 when he won a number one contender's match for Big E's Intercontinental Championship.
