Report: Update On Scrapped AEW Plans For CM Punk

Plans for CM Punk's AEW return on Collision underwent a number of changes

After almost one year away, CM Punk made his return to All Elite Wrestling during the debut episode of Collision on Saturday, June 17. Punk cut a promo to open the show before he teamed with FTR in the main event to defeat Samoa Joe, Jay White, and Juice Robinson.

Fans won't have to wait long for Punk's next appearance on AEW TV and Fightful Select has reported that Punk is "actively planned" for tonight's episode of Dynamite from the Wintrust Arena in Chicago. He was planned to face KENTA at Forbidden Door on June 25 but KENTA reportedly turned down the match.

While Punk returned in a Trios Match on Collision, plans were changed on multiple occasions ahead of June 17. Original plans called for Punk to begin a feud with Chris Jericho but nothing has been heard about that idea for a while, Fightful noted. Singles matches with Samoa Joe and Jay White were also on the cards at different points before changes ended up being made.

Punk looks set to feud with MJF at some point as The Second City Saint returned on Collision with the AEW World Title he never lost. MJF, of course, is the reigning AEW World Champion.
