Report: Update On WWE's Plans For Authors Of Pain

Latest on Authors of Pain heading back to WWE

An update on WWE's plans for the Authors of Pain has emerged.

Reports in recent days have revealed that AOP are allegedly back with WWE, having been re-signed at some point in 2022. Paul Ellering was also believed to have been heavily involved in negotiations over the former Raw Tag Team Champions' returns.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider has since reported there has been a lot of talk over the past week about the Authors of Pain and Paul Ellering making some WWE appearances soon, most likely as part of WWE NXT. This included discussions at Tuesday's NXT taping about the former NXT Tag Team Champions and Paul Ellering coming in next month.

Authors of Pain debuted in WWE back in 2016 and they performed in NXT and on the main roster until their release in 2020. Paul Ellering managed the team until 2018 when they moved to the main roster. Akam and Rezar later linked up with Seth Rollins, forming a faction with the former Universal Champion and Buddy Murphy (now Buddy Matthews).

Akam and Rezar looked to launch their own promotion, Wrestling Entertainment Series, following their WWE releases but the first show was postponed and then cancelled before it took place.
