Report: Vince McMahon Was Never Fully Behind WWE Raw Underground

He wasn't a fan of Shane's fight club...

Dave Meltzer recently reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Raw Underground "for right now is considered done." No segments from Shane McMahon's shoot-style fight club have been taped since the September 21 episode of Monday Night Raw, and Meltzer noted the concept won't be returning because the company wants to keep NXT and main roster talent apart as much as possible to reduce the risk of another coronavirus outbreak.

Having to cancel Raw Underground may not have been a difficult choice for Vince McMahon. According to Paul Davis of WrestlingNews.co, the boss "was never fully on board" with the fight club and didn't "get it." McMahon also reportedly only approved the idea because he wanted to try and improve ratings and believed an out of the box idea might do just that.

If WWE decides to revive the shoot-style fight club at a later date remains to be seen, but one WWE source told Davis they wouldn't be surprised if the segments didn't return.
